Our Stories

We tell stories all the time. Stories are how we communicate. We have stories of how smart we are. Stories of where we are going, where we have been and where we are right now. We have different stories of our life depending on who is our audience and what impression we want the audience to have.

We also have stories we tell ourselves where we are the only audience. This is where our choice of stories affects what we do right now. If we tell ourselves stories of failure, embarrassment, what we lack or what is not possible then we will act it out after all it is our story and we are the storyteller.

Our stories are not complete tales but chosen fragments of our life and circumstances to support the meaning we wish to give the story we have chosen. Our past is a story as is our future.

As we are the storyteller it is our choice of what stories we use.

Do your stories support you or hinder you?

Hi Peter,
Missed chatting with you during my interlude away. I relate to stories in such an intuitive way that I wouldn't really want to answer these questions. I want them to exist in a magical kingdom... Thought provoking post this is.

Both Peter. Even my failures are part of my stories. How one handles failures is just as important or more important than our successes. Being human is just that, a mixture of both. It's how we approach each that can make both a success. Have a great weekend Peter. See you Sunday. :)

Guess I should stop telling the bad stories, but they are funny too and I laugh at them now (I managed to work for four organizations in four years that each closed down!). But the bad made me start yet again from scratch in a different direction -- alone and happier!

Well balanaced Snadee a good approach

Another good approach Elizabeth If you can laugh at them then they won't adversely affect you

our stories are our stories,,, no matter if they support or hinder... i think the important thing as they we become comfortable with the stories... i am working on that... as i don't want one set here,, and one set there,, as i remain fragmented that way... i want one story... mine... does that make sense????

That is the ultimate goal Paisley and a very good observation
